February Hot Read
Outspoken Angel (SEALS, Inc., #2)Outspoken Angel by Mia Dymond
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Cameron Tremaine leaves no man without the sting of her tongue and her ability to intimidate even the strongest man, has them running for the exit when confronted by her. The stiletto wearing blond bombshell may look like an angel, but behind those shimmering curls she is as wicked as they come.

Undercover SEAL Max Sterling has been captivated by Cameron from the moment he set eyes on her, of course he has no plan to let her know it. When a stalker from her past is released from jail, Cameron is put in danger and Max plans to be by her side protecting her but the vixen wants Max in more ways than once and Max is having a hard time resisting the temptation.

The series gets better and better, Max is a dominant hero and pure sin. My cheeks (facial) hurt from the smile plastered on my face while reading the interaction between Max and Cameron, yum....

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Three stories that intertwine with one common theme, a bet made between Abby, Blair, and Callie each who will have one wild weekend of no strings attached sex with the partner of the other two friends choosing.

Abby
When Abby finds out that the two veternarians she has been interning under are both interested in her, Abby finds herself in an unusual predicament. Abby has been divorced for two years, having found herself again she is not sure she can take on the two men, but with her friends encouragement she plans to find out if she can.

Blair
When Blair came up with the idea for the bet, she figured hers would be the easiest to do, she was a strong woman who could easily conquer any man and spit them out for breakfast the next day. When her friends announce that it is Rand McKay who she is to spend the weekend with, Blair panics and for the first time considers losing the bet. There is no way she could possibly go for the one man who she has steered clear from for fifteen years, even if she secretly lusts after him every chance she gets.

Callie
After losing her husband five years ago, widower Callie has kept her fantasies to herself. When her guy is chosen for the bet, Callie is incredibly nervous, although he is not a complete stranger Jack is a customer at her coffee shop and the main lead in her fantasies. When he lets out a non too subtle hint that he is attracted to her, Callie wonders if this is a bet she can win after all.

Wonderful read, my favorite story ended up with Blair which was kind of funny because in the beginning hers was the one I was least looking forward too. Something about Rand McKay though, WOW. All three are really good though and each one has a different desire.

Their Broken Lady by Marla Monroe

Their Broken LadyTheir Broken Lady by Marla Monroe
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When a car comes gunning it full throttle, Amber looks like the is the intended victim until someone pulls her out of the way. Bryan and Tanner have been waiting for the woman they knew would be perfect for them and as luck would have it she has fallen into their arms literally.

Bruised and shelled up in bed, Brian and Tanner have inserted themselves in Amber's life. Their only desire is to care for her needs and get to know her more, but Amber is not the docile patient. For every step forward they make, she takes two steps back. They know something in her past has her hedging each time they get close to breaking down her walls. When the initial threat on her life takes an unexpected turn, Bryan and Tanner know it is time to prove to Amber that she can trust them.

I liked this one a lot. Amber has had a rough time of it and is trying to start over. She has no plans in another relationship where she is doomed to find losers, but Tanner and Bryan are out to prove her wrong. I liked both men, did not have a particular favorite each had their individual charms that made for a good story.

Her Cowboy Triple Team by Stacey Espino

Her Cowboy Triple Team (Ride 'em Hard, #4)Her Cowboy Triple Team by Stacey Espino
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

About to turn thirty, Kayla Roberts knows that it is time to make her own start in life, having always been by her brother side the time finally seems right. Kayla has struggled with her weight and few difficult relationships have left her wondering if she may end up by herself afterall.

Grant Garner has been trying to work up the courage to ask Kayla out, her quiet reserve has made it difficult to read her. With the opportunity there to show her how he feels, Grant makes his move only to realize he may have some competition.

Ben and Austin have basically been shunned in town, due to their change with the wheat product and the fear of change from others, with the exception of Kayla. Austin has been the only one to interact wit her, but the moment he set eyes on her he knew she was special. When Ben finally meets her, he has to wonder if perhaps he is the settling down type after all. The only possible problem in capturing her heart is that she has fallen for Grant, their old friend turned enemy. If they truly want her in their life they need to resolve old issues to move ahead.

Decent story, I wished it had been a bit longer and more developed but overall pretty good. Ben is a bit randy, but I really liked Austin. He is a man of many words, but has a lot of presence in the story.

Kayla Martin and Dylan Thompson have been best friends since they first became neighbors. Kayla is a genius, but flighty, can't sleep, and has a way of bringing a ray of light into Dylan's day. Dylan is the calm before the storm for Kayla, he cooks, and has often been a guinea pig in her experiments, until today.

Kayla has an idea to help stimulate better sexual satisfaction, an walnut wand made for men and their prostates, she wants Dylan to try it. Dylan adamantly refuses, however with all the talk about arousal and mind blowing sex, Dylan wins a bet that leads to friends becoming lovers. What the two find is they cannot get enough of one another and although they are not labeling this new found part of their relationship, Dylan can't think of anyone he would rather spend eternity with.

Funny, sexy, and wickedly funny. Dylan and Kayla are full of surprises, a truly delicious read.

Were Love Foud Her by Dixie Lynn Dwyer

Were Love Found Her (Were Trilogy, #2)Were Love Found Her by Dixie Lynn Dwyer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Antoinette "Toni" does not know what to think about her bosses Brad and Luke, who she knows are Alpha weres and she feels undeniably drawn to, but the feeling doesn't seem to be returned. When she begins starting having visions that reveal two other Alphas from another clan, she is even more confused by her conflicted feelings.

Jacob and Troy are cousins of Lexi (from the first Were book in series), when Toni jumps in front of Jacob and saves his life, they know they have just found their mate. Not knowing what her role was in the attempt on Jacob's life though has them asking a lot of questions, and when Luke and Brad show up claiming she is their mates as well. Could Toni be the mate for two clans that will align upon their mating?

Excellent read, I was confused by the description about the book initially but there was a lot more too it than described. Loved Luke and Troy, they are instant favorites.

****Reread, planning to read the next one and wanted to be up to date in story. There is an unexpected twist in this that is uncommon in paranormal shifter stories.

Set Me Free by Becca Van

Set Me Free (Pack Law # 1)Set Me Free by Becca Van
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Moving to Aztec, New Mexico had Michelle Barclay finally feel like she belonged somewhere. An orphan and shuttled from foster home to foster home, Michelle had formed a cocoon of sorts around herself. Coming off as prim ad proper to others, it is only until she is home by herself does she really feel like herself. Her first few weeks in Azteca though is not without incident, especially when a wolf has her cornered between her car and becoming wolf meat.

Jonah, head alpha of the Friess pack, can't believe his brother found their mate. Although they vary on ideas of how to claim Michelle, the going slow route takes precedent. They don't want to scare her off before she can get to know them. Although a strange turn of events play out when Michelle is attacked by a jealous female and she lashes out at Jonah, Mikhail, and Brock not realizing by doing so she has just claimed them instead.

Fairly good story, a little rushed at times but fun none the less. Mikhail stood out to me more than the other two alphas, I think he is the softy in the group.

18 & Over Book Blogger Follow

18 & Over Book Blogger Follow is a weekly feature that begins on Fridays and runs through the weekend, hosted by Crystal from Reading Between the Wines. This is a Friday blog hop with the objective to find and visit other book blogs that share the same interest as you, namely books geared towards the 18 & over crowd, and make some new friends!

Question of the week: If you could have a girl's night out (or guy's night out) with three of your favorite authors who would they be and why?

This is a tough one, I would say Laurann Doner, Lorelei James, and Kaliana Cole.  They are just who I have read recently and and had scenes in their books that left an impression.  Authoirs who have the talent to completely captivate the readers would be great company for a night out on the town.

It's All Greek To Me by Ktie MacAlister

It's All Greek to MeIt's All Greek to Me by Katie MacAlister
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Iakovoos is polished, powerful, and the epitome of a playboy billionaire who has frequently been on the top bachelor lists. Eglantine "Harry" is a writer who has a creative way of expressing herself, bossy, and the complete opposite of who the type of women Iakovoos typically goes for.

When Iakovoos hired his sisters favorite band for her 18th birthday, he had no idea he would be swept off his feet by the only women he has ever met who stood up to him. She can't pronounce his name, she talks to herself, just when he thinks he has figured her out she surprises him, and he is totally head over heels in love with this tempest of a woman.

Extremely funny, romantic, and blissful charming story. I ended up staying up way way too late finishing this book. I loved it, a special treat. This was a different book because there is no big conflict resolution that you typically have so it became unpredictable. When you are in a need for a smile, this is the perfect book for it.

Told in the first person, Jessica Tandy is on the vacation from hell with a boyfriend she needs to dump. When a pit stop at bar in the middle of Alaska leaves her stranded, she meets a man who she finds herself comfortable with.

Flint Ravenclaw notices Jessica the moment she enters the room, seeing that the company she keeps have no regard to her distress he quickly stands up to save her. Offering to drive her to her destination a night ensues with unpredictable results, will he get a chance to explain before Jessica runs off?

Overall the story was a very creative idea, but the quickness of the read left quite a bit out that would have made the story stronger. I liked this book but would have liked to connect with the characters more.

Candid Camera by Susie Charles

Candid Camera (Were Watching, #1)Candid Camera by Susie Charles
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Randy Trudeau has a reputation for being a love em and leave them type, whose talents in the bedroom are unparalleled. There is only one time that he allowed a woman to get away, one mind blowing kiss on New Years Eve that left him wanting more but she had left before he could even get her name.

Crissy Carter doesn't know if it is something in weather or a new strand of bad luck, she has been mugged and now someone broke into her home and assaulted her. All she wanted was to find the right man and plan for the future, now she has to wonder if there will be one if her luck doesn't change. Taking her cousins advice she hires a security company to find out if the two attacks were related.

One glimpse at Crissy and Randy has found the woman who got away, he plans to rectify it very quickly. Of course there is the matter of keeping her safe, finding out who is after her, and convincing Crissy that she is his mate which is turning out more difficult than he thought since she thinks he is a major player and herself as another notch in his bedpost.

This was a pleasant surprise, funny, romantic in a warped sense, and had a mystery that unravels that is quite a bit of fun. Definitely a lot of potential for future books in this series.

The Devil Wears Plaid by Teresa Medeiros

The Devil Wears PlaidThe Devil Wears Plaid by Teresa Medeiros
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Putting her families needs first, Emmaline Marlow agrees to marry the Laird of the Hepburn Clan, continually reminding herself that this is for her family helps ease the sickening feeling she looks at her future husband who is three times her age. Resigned to a tedious life, Emma is shocked when Highlander Jamie Sinclair interrupts the nuptials and kidnaps the bride.

Jamie planned on kidnapping the bride and holding her for ransom, wanting a possession he has never been able to retrieve in return. He figured the lady would be so frightened and meek that it would be easy to keep her captive, what he got though was a tempered lass who has no qualms sharing her feelings or devising new ideas to drive him mad in wanting her.

Thoroughly fun read, Emma has several surprises in store for Jamie. Every time he thinks he is one up on her, she figures a way to outwit him. Love a great book that has spark to it.

Love Under Two Kendalls by Cara Covington

Love Under Two Kendalls Love Under Two Kendalls by Cara Covington
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ginny Rose had lost hope when she had found herself immersed in an abusive relationship and her child at risk. Doing what she had to do, she made the ultimate sacrifice to save him. Now months later all her efforts are rewarded with two caring men who have made her and her son their highest priority.

Adam and Jake Kendall have been going slow trying to win Ginny's heart, the time has finally come where Ginny is ready to accept them and they can't wait. When Ginny's ex escapes from prison, it puts a huge hurdle in their way wanting only to protect her from her newest threat.

I have been waiting for Ginny Roses story for awhile and this certainly everything I had hoped for. Adam and Jake try to keep their tempers in check, but they struggle sometimes when Ginny has a mind of her own, which leaves readers with a few chuckles. This story also opens the chapter for a story for the triplets, should be fun.

Shoulda Been A Cowboy by Lorelei James

Shoulda Been a Cowboy (Rough Riders, #7)Shoulda Been a Cowboy by Lorelei James
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Injured war hero and now Deputy Sheriff, Cameron McKay, strongly believes he is a half shell of a man, with a missing limb he has nothing to offer to a woman, nor does he want others carrying any slack just because he is impaired. The only woman to get him riled up in the last few years is Domini Katzinski, an immigrant from Ukraine who has had her own share of scars from her childhood, but Cam has never allowed himself to get close enough to know it.

Domini tried once to make it blatantly obvious she wanted Cam, but he rebuffed her and she has been unwilling to try again, until a little liquid courage has her trying one more time and either he will accept her offer or she is moving on.

What unfolds has a few surprises, Cam's pride is in the way of giving himself fully to Domini. Domini tells herself she only wants Cam as a lover, but each time he is with her, she wishes for something more. An unexpected twist has them both unable to communicate what they both feel for one another, causing a tension that will soon break if they both don't put their fears aside and admit they love one another.

Of course the Rough Riders series is one of the best series out there. I had shelved this one for awhile, not really enticed by the blurb on the back of the cover, but when I got a glimpse in the book prior to this I knew I had to read it next. Cam is gritty, arrogant, and so terrified by his own prejudices against how people perceive him, it really touches your soul. Domini has a way of seeing through the BS he is laying and flat out flaying him in calling him out when necessary. One of the best of the series.

Front Page Engagement by Laura Wright

Front Page EngagementFront Page Engagement by Laura Wright
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Millionaire Trent Tanford follows a few rules in life, one of them is his stance on women, always be upfront with what he expects, which is nothing long term. Trent enjoys women, but has no plans of ever making it anything permanent. That is until is father gives him an ultimatum, marry or lose the company he has worked so hard to take over.

Carrie Gray has had it with her neighbor, his never ending line of bimbettes who mistakenly knock on her door at all hours of the night has happened one time too many. Deciding to confront the notorious playboy, the last thing she expects is Trent trying to charm her.

Trent doesn't know what it is about Carrie, but something about her has him turned upside down. Carrie is not his normal type of woman, but with a need to marry she is looking very much like what he would want in a bride, how can he convince the complex woman that she is the one?

I liked this story, thought it was fun, however one key element of the story is just dropped with no finish. I would have rated it higher if it had been resolved. Had some really fun interactions between Trent and Carrie as they realize their relationship is more than a business arrangement.

Branded as Trouble by Lorelei James

Branded as Trouble (Rough Riders, #6)Branded as Trouble by Lorelei James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

India Ellison is a fighter, after a troubled life in her younger years she has fought hard for sobriety and to always be herself, tattoos, piercings, colored hair and all. Her only vulnerability is the close friendship with Colt McKay, her feelings for her longtime friend has shifted to a more intimate feeling but Colt's recent reactions to her leave her a bit baffled.

Colt has never been able to lose his reputation as a player who likes to party, even after three years of sobriety people still see him as the town bad boy, everyone except India. Colt has been in love with India for years, now that she is looking to start dating he wants to be the only one in her arms but communicating that is a bit tougher than he thought, instead he is mucking it up and fighting with his best friend. After a new strategy is planned to get the girl of his dreams, Colt sets out to win her heart.

I don't know why it took me so long to pick this one up. A really good story, I felt for India during a couple of the scenes when she is judged by how she looks. Colt is fantastic, and you see a bunch of Cam and Domini in this one which I need to pick up now that I know more about their story.

For the Love of Anna by Dixie Lynn Dwyer

For the Love of Anna (The Town of Pearl, #1)For the Love of Anna by Dixie Lynn Dwyer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When her mother died, Anna promised that she would take care of her father, even though he was abusive, drunk, and did not show a grain of feelings towards her. When her father tries to sell her into prostitution, it is the last straw. Barely escaping with her life, Anna flees to Pearl to her only friend Stacey, until she can recover.

Wyatt, Charlie, and Ben Cantrell are the cousins to Stacey's men and take an automatic interest in Anna. Not only do they want to protect her, the think she is the one they have been waiting for. Her innocence and fear towards men have them treading slowly as she heals from the beatings she arrived in town with, each one falls deeper for Anna as she begins to embrace the chance of true happiness.

This was a reread for me but my rating still stands. I like this story, it is a bit rough but I think the pacing is perfect and each of the Cantrell men are so different that you can't pick a favorite. Ben is the playboy, Wyatt is the stern Sheriff, and Charlie is the tender soul. Hope she writes more in this series.

**Reread to complete series, still a fantastic read Ben is an instant favorite with his naughty boy performance.

Stacy's Destiny by Dixie Lynn Dwyer

Stacy's Destiny (The Town of Pearl, #2)Stacy's Destiny by Dixie Lynn Dwyer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Stacy knows that if she doesn't leave New York, her ex-boss now turned stalker, will hurt her or her friends. Fleeing to the small town of Pearl she is trying to recover from the bubble of fear she has been living in for months. She doesn't expect to encounter the sexiest cowboy she has ever met, Eric Cantrell but she has fallen for those good looks before and it ended up burning her before and she has no plans to go down that path before. A few hours later she is introduced to deputy Max Cantrell, Eric's twin brother, she knows she maybe in trouble when one is hard enough to resist but two is impossible.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story, Stacy is feisty as all get out. She has no problem standing up to Eric and Max and it adds a few surprises to the story. A book that is difficult to put down.

**I have been going back and rereading some series so I am completely caught up and this happens to be one of them. Very good story, Stacy is a handful but you gotta love Max and Eric who are trying their best to court the feisty minx.
