The Wallflower by Dana Marie Bell

The Wallflower (Halle Pumas, #1)The Wallflower by Dana Marie Bell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Emma Carter has always held a torch for Max Cannon, who she secretly crushed on in high school. Ten years later she co-owns a curio shop with her best friend and Max has returned, always one to fade into the woodwork Emma has no problem just listening to the town gossips about what he is up to, rather than pursue her feelings.

Alpha Max is glad to be home, and now is looking for his mate. When he overhears Emma's lusty voice on the phone with his beta, he is curious to see her again. It takes only a moment to realize he has wasted 10 years looking, she has been in front of him the whole time. Now all Max has to do is convince Emma that he is a puma shifter and she is his mate.

Thought this was a ton of fun, had some humourous areas in the book and has a definite sequel.

Reread, kept thinking about this one and forgot how short it is. Still a fun read though.

In His Own Defense by Ann Jacobs

In His Own Defense (Lawyers in Love, #1)In His Own Defense by Ann Jacobs
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Kristine's whole life has revolved around her becoming a lawyer and putting away drug dealers who prey on the innocent. Kristine's sister overdosed and with the haunting memories of her death, she has no remorse when it comes to anyone affiliated with drugs. When her newest trial begins she finds herself up against one of the best defense attorney's out there, Tony Landry.

From the moment Tony sees Kristine in the courtroom, he knows there is something special about her. With her disdain for who he represents, Tony knows he will have to fight to keep her and if there is one thing Tony is good at it is presenting a winning argument.

At first I was not sure I was going to like this book, however midway in I couldn't put it down. I liked Tony, you know he has found the one but for a high profile lawyer he has a hard time showing his vulnerability but is more than willing to show it to Kristine. Kristine battles with herself over where her loyalties lie, has some interesting twists and an enjoyable read filled with scorching chemistry.

On instinct, Mala instructs a young wolf to run through her dreams, forming a link that she returns to again to make sure he is safe. Mala has lived her life rejected by the abnormal dreams that have her protecting wolfs from harm. When she sees something in one of her dreams that leads her to WolfTown, she follows the hunch that there maybe more to her dreams than just the terror that keep her immobile.

Angus MacIntyre is the alpha of WolfTown, although it is not necessarily a title he needs, his only goal is to protect the wolves that seek protection in his town. When Mala arrives asking for one of his newest rescues, he feels drawn to her but cautious about her intent. What follows unravels a mystery as to what Mala truly is and a possible mate for Angus.

Refreshing take on the shifter stories, I had not read anything about Dream Wraiths before and was fascinated. I thought the story unfolded perfectly and am anxious to read another book by this author.

Lexi spent every moment trying to keep herself alive and those she cares about at a safe distance, not until years later when she sees her best friend at a club does she realize how empty her life has been.

Alpha Paul is the first to notice that he has just found his mate, but she is overly gun shy and keeping him at a distance until she can run again. When Lexi's life is put in danger, Paul and his Alpha brothers Saber and Andre rescue her, but the triplets have an unusual occurrence all three have recognized Lexi as their mate. They have no issue claiming her as their own, but Lexi ready to run again is going to give them a hell of a fight in order to keep the men she has fallen for safe, but she underestimate the men who only want to protect her.

This was an unaware reread for me but delicious all the same. I really enjoyed this story, a great read. Saber is my favorite, very dominant and yet has a vulnerability that gives you warm fuzzies.

Reread, still a great read. Love Saber.

Book Cover Love

Unmasking Dorian (Jenners Law, #1)This is a fun one, I liked the way Dorian knows who she is but she has no clue who he is.

Unmasking Dorian by Violet Summers
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When widower Cassidy Anderson-Lassiter finds a book on BDSM at her sisters, it peaks her interest enough to join an online site about it. When a man offers to help guide her through the different levels of BDSM, an online relationship blossoms between the two, and when her Dom asks to meet her in person she believes she is finally ready for the next step.

Vice cop Dorian Jenner has lusted after Cassidy since the first time he met her. When he realizes the beauty is his online sub, he will do everything in his power to prove to her that he is worthy of her love. But Cassidy treads backwards, already losing a husband in war she is afraid of what could happen to Dorian as a cop.

Great book, I really liked Dorian. Talk about alpha male, yummy.

Lunewulf Law by Lorie O'Clare

Lunewulf LawLunewulf Law by Lorie O'Clare
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is actually the first book in series.

The only thing Sophie Rousseau ever wanted was to be mated with Nik Alexander. They have been doing a sensual dance of flirtation for years and the time has come for Nik to claim her. An unexpected turn of events happen after an attack on the unmated females, an order for the remaining unmated females will have three mates and they have to complete the bond within 30 days or the male mates will be killed.

Nik is willing to standby the pack's orders, but Sophie's needs are first and he wants whatever happens to be special and not have her put in the middle of pack politics.

This was a strange one for me, there were elements of the story I liked a lot, as well as some not so much. You never really get to know the two other mates and one of which seems to be a bit of a lech. Where as Nik is a charmer, his love for Sophie is evident in everything he does. I am going to read the next couple in the series to see if it gets better.

Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake (Love By Numbers #1)Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake by Sarah MacLean

Deciding she has had enough of living by the rules she creates a list of things she would like to try that men have the opportunity to do on a daily basis with out ruining their reputation. First on her list is to Kiss Someone-Passionately and she has the perfect candidate for the task, notorious rake Gabriel St. John who stole her heart with his kindness ten years ago.

Breaking BeauAt Their Command

Dangerous Grounds by Shelli Stevens

Dangerous Grounds (Seattle Steam, #1)Dangerous Grounds by Shelli Stevens
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Opening her own coffee shop has been a dream of Madison's, getting dumped at the same time was not part of the plan. Needing to find her "rebound" guy she sets her eyes on her brothers best friend Gabe. Gabe has no desire to cross the line where his friends sister is concerned, but when she becomes the only witness to actually see the violent Espresso Bandit he steps in to protect her. It doesn't take long for temptation to become to hard to resist before the two fall in bed together.

I was disappointed in this one, I did not like Madison. She was just too abrasive for me. I thought that once the story went on I would soften my opinion, but she never does.

For the Love of Anna by Dixie Lynn Dwyer

For the Love of Anna (The Town of Pearl, #1)For the Love of Anna by Dixie Lynn Dwyer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When her mother died, Anna promised that she would take care of her father, even though he was abusive, drunk, and did not show a grain of feelings towards her. When her father tries to sell her into prostitution, it is the last straw. Barely escaping with her life, Anna flees to Pearl to her only friend Stacey, until she can recover.

Wyatt, Charlie, and Ben Cantrell are the cousins to Stacey's men and take an automatic interest in Anna. Not only do they want to protect her, the think she is the one they have been waiting for. Her innocence and fear towards men have them treading slowly as she heals from the beatings she arrived in town with, each one falls deeper for Anna as she begins to embrace the chance of true happiness.

This was a reread for me but my rating still stands. I like this story, it is a bit rough but I think the pacing is perfect and each of the Cantrell men are so different that you can't pick a favorite. Ben is the playboy, Wyatt is the stern Sheriff, and Charlie is the tender soul. Hope she writes more in this series.

Chasing Lacie by Jenny Penn

Chasing Lacie (Sea Island Wolves #4)Chasing Lacie by Jenny Penn
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Number four in the Sea Island Wolves, with a threat brewing to all female mates and order is sent out to protect them pairing them with their intended mates. Chance and Davis have been waiting for years to claim Lacie, expecting total acceptance to their ways, only to find that Lacie pushes the buttons and has a hard time with following their rules.

I was disapointed in this one, it did not follow the previous three and frankly did not like any of the characters. Chase and Davis are caveman who never really soften in the story. Big Jenny Penn fan but this one did not work for me.

Diana Ridley has enough problems of her own, with two teenage children and an ass for an ex, she is not looking to be den mother to Adam Weis and his pack. Adam is the Pater Cainis of his pack, as the foster parent to five boys he had not planned on finding a mate but the boys determination that Diana is who they want has him finding ways to spend time with the fiesty woman.

I almost passed this book because of the title, however it was pretty good. I am giving it a 3.75 because there were a few missing pieces in the story that got me a bit confused, it all worked out and was a minor in the story. I would definitely try this author again.

Maleko and Jack plan to deal with the unethical handling of their grandmother's property, but are conflicted by the fiesty vixen in front of them who does not seem to care one way or another if they sell the land.

This was ok, I had a lot of questions left unanswered but overall a pleasant read. I liked Jack a lot, he is a bit of bad boy.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wanting vengeance for his sister's death, Vincenzo Valentini seeks out the one person he believes had a hand in her demise, Cara Brosnan. Cara is the sister to the man who corrupted and caused the accident that claimed his sister's life.

Cara has never allowed herself to be seduced before, but something about "Enzo" calls to her, maybe it is the thought of easing the pain of the crash or maybe it is the need to be in someones arms. After a night of passionate lovemaking, Cara is blindsided by the cold man who cheapens the loss of her virginity and accuses her of vile acts that are untrue.

Two months later, Cara is pregnant. When Vincenzo finds out he forces a marriage to claim his heir. With animosity running rampant, cracks begin to present themselves as Cara is nothing like the person he has accused her of being and Vincenzo wonders if he has made a grave mistake, hurting the one person who has ignited any passion in him in years.

Vincenzo is an ass throughout half the story, very cold and calculating when it comes to Cara. On the flipside of this though, his lust for her runs rampant and you see the steel wall he has sheltered around himself begin to dent, you eagerly turn the page to see when he is going to finally realize what he has done. Cara tries to be strong throughout the whole ordeal, you see a vulnerable, lonely person who has only ever wanted acceptance. You become invested in this story between Vincenzo and Cara, hoping that they can forgive each other for laying blame where it is not deserved.

Book Cover Love: Get A Clue by Jill Shalvis

Get A ClueI think this is an intriguing cover, love the blue hue.

Get A Clue by Jill Shalvis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Breanne Mooreland has had it with her run of bad luck when it comes to men, jilted at the alter she decides to go ahead and use the honeymoon retreat they had planned. She should have realized that the groom not showing up was the first sign that her life was about to go completely awry, now facing a naked man in her honeymoon suite has her running for the door.

Vice cop Cooper Scott just wanted a week to get his head in order. Having had his life in shambles over the past couple of months, he just wants to ski, relax, and maybe find a couple of ski bunnies to warm his bed. What he ends up with in return is a stunning woman who turns him down every chance she gets, a dead body, and a chance to figure out what he wants to do with the rest of his life.

Hilarious book, there are some really funny moments between Breanne and Cooper. Cooper has page swagger, his sensuality oozes through each page and you almost hope the book never ends because of it. Love Jill Shalvis, deliciously fun.

Edie Earns Her Saddle by Ava Mitchell

Edie Earns Her Saddle (Liebling, Texas 2)Edie Earns Her Saddle by Ava Mitchell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Edie Bishop is a free spirit, who hopes that one day she can find what her best friend and co-owner of the B&B has with two men she loves.

SEAL Jason Chisolm doesn't know what to make of the prius owning hippie before him, he has never been tongue tied with a woman before but the luminous eyes and expressive face speaks to him like no other woman has.

Seth Chisolm has never seen his brother so flustered over a woman, and can't wait to meet her. It only takes one second to realize she is different, the brothers put a plan in motion to make sure she never forgets she is theirs. When an ex-lover comes to town though she causes ripples in a blossoming relationship with her conniving ways.

This was a reread for me, but I loved it. Extremely funny at times, Edie rambles with her thoughts and ideas, while Seth and Jason are cowboys and bar owners, both very dominant in their ways.

Seven Secrets of Seduction (Secrets, #1)Seven Secrets of Seduction by Anne Mallory
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Miranda Chase works her Uncle's bookstore without any hesitation, for her love of books is her only true passion. Not one to step out in society, Miranda has chosen to live her life in a small literary circle, usually only reading about adventures.

When Maximilian, Viscount Downing enters the store while Miranda is fully immersed in a fascinating novel he is completely entranced by the woman with a firm tongue and independent streak. Maxim finds ways to get closer to Miranda, wanting to keep her close to his side and never let her go. But Maxim's life is filled with secrets that could destroy his greatest treasure of all, Miranda.

What a glorious read, unable to put down. My heart went out to Maxim who is a mischievous rake, but Miranda sees through his bad boy exterior and often calls his bluff. This is a one sitting book with a box of chocolate, bottle of Merlot and a cozy blanket to enjoy this treasure.
