Holding Her Close by Allyson Lindt

Holding Her Close (Bits & Bytes, #0)Holding Her Close by Allyson Lindt
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Zach has had a two women break his heart, the first was his high school sweetheart who dumped him for reasons that still make no sense to him. His second was a fiancee who dumped him and sold his companies share in a swift act of betrayal.

With his company facing a hostile takeover, Rae is called in to help find a solution but old feelings come circling back. Rae was the high school sweetheart and he animosity still is evident. Hoping that a different solution will put the past behind them, they agree to one night together for closure sake. Of course when they both get a sample of one another, one night might not be enough.

Entertaining story, I thought Zach was a sweetheart, he is the type of man who you just want to cuddle. I liked that there was unresolved history between Rae and Zach. Great story, look forward to reading the next in series.

Delicate Freakn' Flower by Eve Langlais

Delicate Freakn' Flower (Freakn' Shifters, #1)Delicate Freakn' Flower by Eve Langlais

How can fate have chosen him to have a mate, he has been playing the role of tomcat? Although once Javier gets a sample of her delicious temper, he has no doubt that she is the one. Ethan and Javier come up with a plan to tempt, seduce, and claim their mate.

Another kick myself read. Hilarious, loved all the characters and thought Naomi was an original, she is determined to stick by her guns about being delicate, but on the other hand she has no qualms throwing stuff at Ethan and Javier, taking pot shots when needed, and letting her temper fly when warranted. Can't wait to read the next one.

Sold Into Marriage by Ann Major

Sold Into Marriage (Silhouette Desire, #1832)Sold Into Marriage by Ann Major
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Adam Ryder is sent to Paris to ward off potential girlfriend of his brother. Josie has been burned badly before has has put herself on a six month man free hiatus, when she sees Adam it is with a mixture of humor, given the situation, and like a magnet she is drawn to him. One passionate night leads to a disastrous morning where Josie ends up feeling betrayed, lost, and unworthy.

Adam had not meant to fall into bed with Josie, she was so alluring. One time is not enough with her, but her stubborn behavior is not allowing him to explain. When Adam finds out there is a baby on the way, he will do anything to protect his child and Josie, even if he has to go about it in an underhanded way.

I would like to think Adam struck the marriage bargain with the intent that he would get Josie to fall for him, like he has fallen for her. There are a few loose ends in the story, but overall it was an entertaining read.

Price of A Kiss by Linda Kage Book Spotlight

Price of a KissPrice of a Kiss by Linda Kage
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reese Randall has changed her name and begun a new life as a college Freshman hoping for a fresh start and not to make the same mistake trusting a man again. Reese's ex did everything but kill her, but she can't stop from making googly eyes at Mason Lowe, who has to be the most handsome man she has ever seen.

Mason is tainted, the rumors swirl about his job as a gigolo, but Reese sees past the myth and gets to know the man. Mason is not as open to becoming Reese's friend, feeling his reputation will ruin her. When she is hired to babysit his sitter who has cerebral palsy though, it is hard to stay away.

It is difficult to explain the feelings surrounding this story. I would normally steer clear with the plot line of a gigolo/prostitute but started reading this one and was not able to stop reading. I felt or Mason, he is stuck between a rock and a hard place. He is falling hard for Reese but doesn't feel he is worthy of her attention. Reese doesn't care, she has been through her own dramas and judgement and likes Mason, he doesn't shy away with her quirky behavior or inability to filter what she is saying. I have been a big fan of Linda Kage for years and she continues to surprise and amaze me with her work, another excellent read.

Continue the roller-coaster journey with your favorite characters as they try to survive junior year at the country's top performing arts school.

Review:
When Elena first meets Sebastian "Seb", they are young and she is not sure she wants to be his friend.  Although walking to dance class with him doesn't seem to be so bad.  Two years later Seb is her best friend and with her to begin their first day at Montacrue Performing Arts School  It doesn't take long to make friends and an enemy as she finds herself constantly competing with a diva.

The first four years are filled with promise, disappointment, pain, happiness, and unexpected turns that Elena and Sebastian never saw coming.  This reminded me a bit of Fame, but definitly with a more current vibe to it.  I thought Sebastian was delightful, he is soft to Elena who is a tough cookie.  I was surprised several times and thoroughly enjoyed this multi performance novel.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Ryan Cosgrove and Liliana Delgado are on a collision course with destiny. They don't know it yet, but before the night is over their lives will be forever changed.
Spending Valentine's Day at a burlesque bar, hadn't been Liliana's ideal way of spending a Friday night. She'd much rather be back at campus, doing homework... until she meets Ryan. Tall, athletic, and gorgeous, Lili can't keep her eyes off him, and despite his gruff manners and drunken disposition she's intrigued.
Ryan's got demons, and they're deep, dark, and eating him alive. Regardless of his attraction to the petite brunette he's tired of fighting, of pretending the last fifteen years haven't been a daily struggle just to get out of bed every morning. That night he decides to end his pain, to leave it all behind and float away into the blessed darkness of oblivion. But fate has other plans for him, Lily finds and rescues Ryan, determined she'll not only save his body, but his soul too.
This is their moment...
Excerpt :
“He likes you.”
His voice is smooth. Rolling over my body like silk, reminding me of a good malt whiskey. Clearing my throat, I shift in my seat. “It’s not like that.”
“Funny,” he narrows his eyes, “that’s the same thing he said about you.”
He’s had a lot of vodka, I’m not sure how much, but it was enough-- enough to know that he sounds way too sober for someone so drunk.
I shrug. “Your point?”
Bringing the glass up to his full lips, it hovers along the bottom edge of it, making my pulse tremble in my throat. “Call it an observation.”
It’s weird. A part of me wants to keep talking to him, wants to learn more about him, another part is screaming at me to get up, run away, and never look back. Tapping my fingers on the table, I thin my lips.
I stay seated.
“What’s your name?” I finally ask, it’s been bothering me all night.
He smiles and I’m surprised to note he actually has a nice one. Not as open as Alex’s, or as pretty, but way more fascinating. His front teeth are slightly chipped and the action doesn’t seem like one he’s comfortable doing. There’s a hardness around his eyes that I wish I understood. But he has a wicked dimple and I’ve always been a sucker for those.
“Ryan.”
“That’s it, just Ryan?”
Staring at me, as if considering whether to take this further, he finally says, “Cosgrove.”
Excerpt:
Caroline was talking from the back seat so he tuned in to her.  “I saw a picture of it in a catalog and Mommy said we could look at it in the store.  It’s so awesome.  It looks even better when you see it all put together.”
“Don’t be in a rush, honey, because when we get yours it’ll be in a box.  We’ll have to bring it home and read the directions.  Make sure we have all the pieces and tools before we start, then follow the directions step by step.  It could take hours.”
A grin snuck onto his face.
“What?”
He glanced over at Alyssa and tried to hide it.  “Nothing.”  He concentrated on driving, then said, “That’s one way to do it, I suppose.”
“And what would you suggest?”
“I’m more of a free-for-all kind of guy.  You know, open the box, shake everything out on the floor, throw the directions aside.  Study it a while, then just dive in.”
Alyssa frowned.  “You would put it together without the directions?  There could be hundreds of pieces!”
He chuckled.  “Extra points if you don’t use them all.”
She gasped softly and turned back to the road, shaking her head.  But Caroline giggled in the back seat.  “You mean it actually works that way?”
“Sure,” he said while Alyssa simultaneously said, “No way.”
“But if you don’t use all the screws and stuff, wouldn’t it be a little wobbly?” Caroline asked.
“You bet,” said her mom, while he said, “Nah.”
He and Alyssa looked at each other, eyebrows raised.  Then they laughed.
“I can tell this is going to be an adventure.”  Alyssa shook her head.
Review:
Millionaire Grant Fontaine lost his pregnant wife a decade ago, in that time he has kept to himself and  focused on his work. He has though kept one aspect of his life that has changed him secret, he fathered a child via sperm donation, and he knows who the mother and daughter is.  His plan to bide time until is daughter is an adult and then form a relationship.  The problem is Alyssa Stark and her daughter Caroline have moved to New York and are right by him.  An accidental meeting with Alyssa has him taking a drastic turn and getting to know her better and her daughter, but he has not been forthcoming about who he is and it could destroy it all.
I am always a sucker for this type of story and Hidden Agendas fit the bill.  I felt for Grant, you could sense the longing to be part of a family and the befuddlement of his attraction to Alyssa.  I thought this was a charming read and was highly entertained.
For good measure they call in Liam Kennedy, a charming and sexy fairy godfather, to teach her some manners. Desperate to regain her magic and determined to shed the weight, Tessa soon realizes that protecting her heart from Liam will prove to be her greatest challenge.
Review:
Entitled witch Tessa Von Hellengaard is in for a rude awakening, her pompous attitude and belligerent behavior have finally caught up to her.  Sentenced to work with a fairy godmother (or hunk of man), she does not plan for the hurdles placed in front of her.  Gaining a hundred pounds instantly, only to have to lose it without the help of her magic.  Not to mention falling hard for her handsome hunk only to have him betray her, but not everything is what it seems and Tessa is about to learn some harsh lessons.
Delightful story.  Liam oozes masculinity, I thought hte way he handled Tessa was hilarious.   Creative story that was thoroughly enjoyable.
The Future of the ROUGH RIDERS
Slick from Guilty Pleasures:  Since I just finished reading Redneck Romeo about the last McKay man standing, Dalton, I have to ask who will be the focus of book 16 and is that truly the end?  Because I have to tell you having Ky driving and into girls is going to open up a whole can of worms about when the kid's stories are going to be told.
No fun, I know, but no comment on Rough Riders book 16 yet...I'll clue you all in a bit further down the road. I get a bajillion questions about why I'm ending the Rough Riders series at book 16. And yes, I could probably write a second generation of McKays (Love Love Love my readers but you guys are driving me insane with the "When will you write Boone and Sierra's book?! Crazy rabid fans, I keep threatening that if you keep nagging me it'll be...never -- ha ha, yet I'd never do that because I want to know what happens too!) but I've always considered this series a western saga that DOES have an end. I've been fortunate that I've been allowed to write the books how I want, at the pace I want, with the subject matter I want--all with 100% publisher support. That is rare. Since the books have such a great following, there is that mindset to continue to "cash in" on the popularity of the series and characters. But I won't do that because at what point do the new books just become a rehash of the older books? I'd much rather end the series on a high note, at the height of popularity than wait until the series might be considered "tired" and I start to lose readers. Plus, I have lots of ideas, situations, characters and areas to explore in other fictional worlds. I hope readers come along for the ride.
Kidnapped Cowboy by Lindsey Brookes Review Tour
Kidnapped Cowboy
by Lindsey Brookes
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

After countless attempts to speak with the owner of the retreat for troubled teens she runs on the outskirts of Lone Tree, Montana, Caitlin Myers resorts to kidnapping Brandon ‘The Ogre of Lone Tree’ Barnes in a desperate attempt to change his mind about turning Stoney Brook into a vacation resort for the wealthy.

Retired rodeo star, Dalton Barnes, gets the surprise of his life when he’s abducted by a soft-spoken female with a ‘gun’ and taken to the retreat his family owns. He soon learns she’s kidnapped the wrong cowboy by mistake. She wanted his brother. Things go from bad to worse when a late spring snowstorm strands them together at the cabin. But it’s during their snow-in that Dalton learns why Caitlin has gone to such lengths to save Stoney Brook. Having had issues with his older brother himself and a not so happy past, Dalton promises to do what he can to help her.

When confronted Brandon tells Dalton he’ll hold off on his plans for the retreat, but only if Dalton agrees to stick around and help run it. Keeping his promise to Caitlin, Dalton agrees and what starts out as a common goal to turn the troubled teens’ lives around that summer ends up turning theirs around as well. Can a man who has always avoided putting down roots and a woman with a deep-seated fear of abandonment hang on to the happiness they’ve found together? Or will the past return to threaten their newfound love?

Love, laughter and a heartwarming read…

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt:
His brother shook his head as he stood eyeing the two of them.  “Would someone mind explaining what the hell is going on out here?”
Dalton’s gaze shifted to the house where only the weathered outline of the trellis remained and then back to Caitlin.  He wasn’t even going to attempt an explanation.  Hell, he wasn’t even sure what had just happened.
“I was trying to get your attention,” she admitted.
“Well, it worked,” his brother muttered.
Color flooded her cheeks.  “I’m really sorry about the trellis.  I’ll pay for the damages.”
“I don’t think there’ll be a need for that,” Dalton cut in.  “It just needs reattached to the wall.  Simple enough.”
“Then the job’s yours,” Brandon told him and then turned back to Caitlin.
“Do you realize I could have you arrested for trespassing?”
“Not if she had my permission,” Dalton argued.
His brother arched a dark brow.  “You gave her permission to climb the trellis and peep into my office window?”
“I wasn’t peeping,” she said in her own defense.
“She wanted to talk to you,” he explained, not that Brandon ever listened.
“Through a window?”  Brandon shook his head.  “Never mind.  I suppose we’d best continue this conversation in my office.  Something tells me if I don’t let you two say your piece, she’s gonna bring my whole damn house down.”  That said Brandon walked away.
Review
A case of mistaken identity thrusts Dalton Barnes into a kidnap victim role, with the worst kidnapper in history Caitlin Myers.  Everything about the awkward kidnapping has Dalton wondering who the polite kidnapper is and how  in the heck he became the target.
Caitlin had a plan, it was slightly ill formed but she never expected she had the wrong man and all she wanted to do was save Camp Stoney Brook retreat for wayward teens.  In the middle of a snow storm Dalton and Caitlin are snowed in,  Dalton cannot help but be charmed by the beautiful woman with the quirky attitude and agrees to help her and talk to his brother who is planning on closing Stoney Brook.  For Dalton it should have been an easy task, but he finds himself venturing into unchartered territory with Caitlin and the brotherly rivalry is in full swing.
I was laughing  from beginning to end, Caitlin is so charming with her misguided ideas.  I liked that one second she is sweet and the next she is spiting fire.  Definitely seeking out more of Lindsey Brookes books.
