Just Like That (Bradfords, #2)Just Like That by Erin Nicholas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sam Bradford has one rule when it comes to women, one night only, he never wavers no matter how delectable the woman is. When he overhears Danika Steffen with the sisters on the pursuit of the mysterious orgasm she has never received, he decides that he can rectify that easily enough and offers his services. Sam is frazzled though, initially he decides he can’t sleep with her but that she needs an education on sensuality first, of course that would mean they see each other the next day, but he hasn’t broken his rules right? Sounds like a fairly simple plan, until their late night excursion has Danika suffering from a broken wrist and Sam decides she needs to be under his care for the next two weeks.

Lieutenant Finn Coleman has always lived his life by the strict code of the military, when he started talking to cyber pen pal Emma Shield he knew that he had to meet her one day. Finn is smarter than Emma gives him credit for, she is far to intelligent to be the campy persona she has created as her profile and after months of insistence asking for a picture he finally decides to make good on his promise, to spank her butt when he sees her.

Emma cannot believe how attached she has become to the mysterious Finn Coleman, she has revealed her inner desires that she had only read about in her erotic novels, knowing they would never meet what would be the harm in expressing them. That is all about to change when Finn shows up on her doorstep, but Emma is never one to back out of a direct challenge, she is about to up her game and has found a worthy opponent.

Wow, not a major descriptive word but this blew my socks off. I flushed, giggled, and just was completely in rapture by this book. Fantastic read.

Midnight Call by Keyonna Davis

Midnight CallMidnight Call by Keyonna Davis
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Walking away from her wealthy family to create a life that is hers and hers alone, Nadia Cassidy never figured it would be as a Nanny to three men who are raising a baby.

Jackson Burrows had not seen his sister in years, but when the call came from he hospital he finds that he has lost his sister and gained a newborn baby. Best friends and roommates Greg Ballantyne and Steve Dalaney have been by Jackson's side since they were kids, they have every plan to do the same now, after all babies need all love they can get. When they hire inexperienced nanny Nadia, they feel their lives have changed, all three men want her but are unwilling to ruin their friendship to cross that line. They come up with a creative way of solving the problem, that is as long as Nadia is willing to accept all three men as her lovers.

I thought this had a fun base story, but you never get to know Greg at all. You get Steve a lot who is shy and geeky and Jackson who is the babies true Uncle, but Greg you hardly have in the story which left it a bit empty. Quick read, but missing a key piece in the end.

Well written suspenseful thriller, To The Grave pulls the reader in from the beginning and keeps you guessing until the end. James is a compelling character and you want to know more about his loyalty to his ex-wife and his newer relationship with Catherine. I would definitely try another of Carlene Thompson’s books.

Monday Musings...Looking for...

Feral Sins by Suzanne Wright

Feral Sins (The Phoenix Pack, # 1)Feral Sins by Suzanne Wright
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Latent wolf, Taryn Warner is trying to find a way out of a forced mating, but her father won't listen because he is more concerned about an alliance and the pack thinks she is crazy to have any objections about her future mate. When she is brought in front of Pack leader Trey Coleman, under the most unorthodox fashion, he has a bargain for her. They act as true mates, which would override the mating she is being forced to take and in return Taryn helps him get an alliance of his own. The deal is for three months and they both agree not to initiate the mating bond so they can walk away when they are done.

Trey didn't know what to expect when he planned on meeting Taryn, but the small sprite with enough sass to leave others shaking in her wake, was not it. Both Alpha wolfs, Taryn and Trey find the attraction is unquestionable, but Trey has a reputation of turning feral when he shifts and Taryn sees no reason why she can't calm his inner wolf while they are together causing Trey to question how deep he is going to let himself fall for his temporary mate.

Holy moly, this was a fantastic story and I was unable to put it down. I wasn't sure how the crossover from contemporary to paranormal would work for this author, but boy does it. It had several surprises and I liked that Taryn stays true to her character throughout it all. Trey does as well, it is a remarkable story and instant shifter favorite for me.

Freaky by Nature by Mia Dymond

Freaky By Nature (SEALS, Inc., #3)Freaky By Nature by Mia Dymond
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The moment former SEAL Brett Steele saw Holly bathing naked, he knew he had to meet her. When she got shot, he was there to help with her recovery, everything he did drew him closer to what he thought was a mutual possibility of a relationship, however when he asked Holly out she politely turned him down time and time again.

Holly has secrets, not only does she use her body as an art form of sensual dance, she also can read peoples auras. Having lived with this since a child, she has found there are few people she can trust, which leads her to turning Brett down. It also does not help that someone is vandalizing her gym and after her, when Brett is called in to help protect Holly it looks like the time has come to either act on the chemistry they have or self combust.

I teetered on my rating on this one but overall a good story, the glimpses of Cameron and Max pushed it to a four star rating. Brett just wasn't as manly as the others, he definitely is alpha material but Holly seems to where the britches. A good story and pathway is set for Shadows story which looks to be explosive.

**reread, I have to say even the second time Cam and Max steal it.

Mikayla by Dixie Lynn Dwyer

Mikayla (Orchidea: Love on the Bayou, #3)Mikayla by Dixie Lynn Dwyer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Mikayla Aubert is focused on building her real estate business. When a potential client wants to see a house that could catapult her career, Mikayla snags it not realizing who the man is. Pierre Fromm knows that Mikayla does not know who he is, he wanted to meet the woman he had heard so much about from his brothers Antoine and Michael, never one to miss an opportunity it takes only a minute to realize she is something special. Now they only need to get their estranged brother Douglas back in the loop to see if the menage lifestyle they had always talked about can become a reality. When Mikayla looks to be a target for a stalker though, the men make their demands on what they expect in this relationship, number one keeping her safe.

Enjoyable story, this had a few loose ends though that I wondered about when the story ended. I liked Douglas the best, although a domineering man he also had a vulnerable side to him that I found engaging. Can't wait to read the next one, looks like it is going to be a good one.

Illeanna by Dixie Lynn Dwyer

Illeanna (Orchidea: Love on the Bayou, #2)Illeanna by Dixie Lynn Dwyer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Chef Illeanna Aubert wants to focus on her career, rather than the romantic pursuit of the Boudoux men who seem to be bumping into her on a more regular basis. When a gunman shows up in her restaurant and holds her hostage, the Boudoux brothers have had enough.

Franco, Gustave, Julien, and Johnny are tired of waiting, they know Illeanna is the one for them, but her stubborn ways have put her in danger. As she continues to finds ways to avoid them, she is attacked in the middle of the night. Enough is enough, the men bring her to their home where they intend to keep her as well as prove to her that they are worthy of everything she has to offer.

I liked this one the best so far in the series. Franco commands the room, but Gustave is the silent one whose tenderness makes him an instant favorite.

Fault Lines by Rebecca Rogers Maher

Fault LinesFault Lines by Rebecca Rogers Maher
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Wedding coordinator Sarah Murphy wears a mask when interacting with others, appearing confident and at ease with who she is. In a rare moment, Sarah is captured by photographer Joe Sullivan through his lens revealing the vulnerable woman inside. Sarah feels confused by Joe but does not want to explore her feelings, rather treat him the way she treats all men, use them for sex. One night though is not for Joe and he realizes he has met someone who is haunted by something in her past, if she will let him he wants to be by her side as she lets go of the shadows of her past.

Captivating story, you are not sure what has caused Sarah to be so aloof and Joe is a true saint with patience as he gives Sarah the space she needs to figure out how she feels about him. I thought the way the author mingled photography into the story added a visual aspect to the story.

Angelique by Dixie Lynn Dwyer

Angelique (Orchidea: Love on the Bayou, #1)Angelique by Dixie Lynn Dwyer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

After a past relationship taught her not to trust men again, Angelique Aubert put all her effort into creating her lingerie line. Keeping her efforts a secret and wanting to see where it would lead to, Angelique travels for her weekly visit to pick up the beads she ordered. Harrassed by a couple of drunks, she is rescued by Armand and his Sheriff brother Eloi both huge in stature and stunning to look at.

Armand and Eloi realize she is the one they have been looking for immediately, but they need their other brothers Remy and Marcel to meet her before they act on anything. The four brothers had all agreed they wanted one woman to share, love, and have a family with but Angelique is skittish about entering a relationship with them. They want to know why she flinches and what secrets she keeps, but her fiesty temper gets in the way more often than not and there is a new danger that could ruin their blossoming realtionship.

Overall pretty good, had a couple things that had me wondering at the end. A time difference that really is not noted in the book and one question that does not really get answered. Had some good chemistry though and opens the door for more sequels.

** I liked it better the second time. Eloi stands out the most, he is hard to read at first but his intensity adds to his chemistry with Angelique.

New To Me Author

Finally HomeFinally Home by Helen Scott Taylor
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

In a moment of clarity, Jack Summers realizes he cannot go through with the wedding he is about to have. When his bride to be demands to know why and who has caused the change of heart, his only excuse is he has fallen in love with Melanie Marshall, his employee at Greyfrair House Hotel. Jack doesn’t know why he conjured up the single mom’s name, but once the thought crossed his mind he warms to the idea of getting to know her and her son.

Melanie fled her home five years ago with her son after being cast out thanks to her dead husbands sin. Wanting to recreate a life that will bring no harm to her son, she has created a fragile bubble around them never getting to close to others and never trusting another man. When Jack suggests they explore what is between them, it is met with reluctance but her son’s obvious need for a male role model has her agreeing but as their friendship becomes something more, Jack persists with wanting to know what is behind those haunted shadows in her eyes, will she be able to leave the past behind in order to have a future?

Thoroughly enjoyable story, I thought Jack was charming and patient with Melanie. I thought the story was plausible in every aspect and the twist to Melanie’s back story, I had not seen this done before and thought it was refreshing to read. Would definitely pick up more of Helen Scott Taylor’s books.

Just Right by Erin Nicholas

Just Right (Bradfords, #1)Just Right by Erin Nicholas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

ER nurse Jessica Bradford is the epitome of a hard worker in control of everything she touches, although on the surface it appears that way, inside she is often lonely but her past mistakes continue to drive her to set a positive standard for others. Jessica does entertain one revolving fantasy though, that of Dr. Ben Torres, the man oozes sex appeal and bad boy status, and Jessica can’t seem to get him out of her mind.

Ben has had a crush on Jessica since he caught her bent over and a glimpse of the sexy thong that she had hidden underneath her scrubs. Many of lonely nights have been entertained by what else she is hiding within. When Ben lashes out at a patient, he is ready to walk away since the possibility of lawsuit seems a definite, but Jessica is called in to keep an eye on Ben and finds out that the man she had put on a pedestal of hero status is quite different and if she is not careful, she is going to fall hook, line and sinker in love with him.

The first in the Bradford series. I liked that Ben is having a bit of a melt down, he is at a crossroads in his life and although he rationalizes his decision, he is struggling with the outcome. Jessica goes for quite a transformation as she takes a walk on the wild side, the way Ben gets her out of her comfort zone is often hilarious. Wonderful start to the series.

Not ready to settle, Sawyer McKettrick finds himself taking a job as Marshal in Blue River, Texas. When he is shot, he finds himself in the care of the town's school teacher, Piper St. James. For the first time in his life, Sawyer wonders if he has met his match. Although Piper is cordial, she also has a spark of temper which he happens to enjoy igniting. As Christmas draws close, so does their feelings for one another and Sawyer doesn't plan to let that feeling go.

I am always a sucker for one of Linda Lael Milller's books, they are always fun and have spirited characters that you can't seem to forget. An Outlaw's Christmas is another fantastic read, Piper is head strong and although society still has certain perimeters for women, she finds that there are ways to get around them when others are in need. Wonderful Christmas story that captures the essence of the holiday.

Sunny Days for Sam by Jennifer Shirk

Sunny Days for SamSunny Days for Sam by Jennifer Shirk
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When Sunnyva “Sunny” Fletcher came back home to take care of her dying grandmother, she had not expected it would put her life in a stalemate. With the hospital bills piled up and needs to be met, she doubts even in twenty years she will be able to move past the mountain in debt, always one to look at the bright side though Sunny finds any job she can get her hands on and tries to chip away at it.

Sam Calloway maybe cynical about people, but his children mean everything to him. After their mother’s death, Sam decides they need the summer away to create a new start. Knowing he will still have to work he decides to look for a nanny, but Sunny happens instead. In her adorable princess outfit, she bonds with his children at a theme park. Of course Sam doesn’t realize that he manages to get her fired in a round a bout way, not sure that he is sane when he agrees to let her try to nanny for him, Sam finds that it is hard to resist the quirky woman who has a fresh outlook on life and if he isn’t careful may just fall head over heels for her.

Adorable story, Sunny is a ray of sunshine to Sam’s brooding cloud. Sam is an internet guru and used to being used by people, but he can’t figure out Sunny’s angle, probably because she doesn’t have one. I liked that this was a light hearted story and you see Sam realizing that life is not all about work and he can create his own happiness. Wonderful read, Jennifer Shirk continues to entertain readers.

Outspoken Angel (SEALS, Inc., #2)Outspoken Angel by Mia Dymond
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Cameron Tremaine leaves no man without the sting of her tongue and her ability to intimidate even the strongest man, has them running for the exit when confronted by her. The stiletto wearing blond bombshell may look like an angel, but behind those shimmering curls she is as wicked as they come.

Undercover SEAL Max Sterling has been captivated by Cameron from the moment he set eyes on her, of course he has no plan to let her know it. When a stalker from her past is released from jail, Cameron is put in danger and Max plans to be by her side protecting her but the vixen wants Max in more ways than once and Max is having a hard time resisting the temptation.

The series gets better and better, Max is a dominant hero and pure sin. My cheeks (facial) hurt from the smile plastered on my face while reading the interaction between Max and Cameron, yum....

**Reread because trying to finish series. This is a really fun book, best so far in the series. Max is totally off his game when it comes to Cameron everytime he thinks he has her figured out she surprises him.

Feeling Hot by Elle Kennedy

Feeling Hot (Out of Uniform, #7)Feeling Hot by Elle Kennedy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Thoroughly entertaining story. Jen is a bundle of fun and offsets Cash’s steely exterior, she doesn’t seem phased by anything he says or does. His stance is simple, she keeps to her side, he will keep to his, no touching, kissing, or anything that has to do with each other’s body. Jen’s stance is quite different, she puts in place the art of seduction until she can get him into her bed. It is a war of the hormones until they both find themselves falling for one another, even though they labeled their affair a fling. Wonderful read.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It only took a split second for Sean Taggart to look at his newest assignments picture to realize that his life is about to be changed forever. Grace Hawthorne in all her dowdiness in the photo sparks something within Sean, he knows there is something lying beneath her sheltered exterior. His only worry is how deep Grace is involved with the terrorist group that is hiding within the employment agency she is working for.

Grace Hawthorne saw her life as complete, widower and mother of two college students she figured her had her time and now it was time to sit on the sidelines and enjoy the little things. When Sean walks into her office, she is shocked to feel that unfamiliar tugging that has been dormant for so long. What would a younger man be interested in an older woman for? She doesn't know but Sean is in full pursuit, seeing Grace is a submissive has Sean chomping at the bit to get her close, in bed, and collared but Grace is putting up one hell of a chase. With the web of lies surrounding her work, Sean doesn't know if he can trust Grace or not but either way he plans to keep her safely by his side.

Loved this story, it was intoxicating, one page turned into the next and you are drawn to what happens next. Sean is a new favorite hero and Grace is a fantastic match for the man who is determined to make her his. Can't wait to read more in this series.

Walking in on her boyfriend with another woman set into motion a turn of life changing events for Liv Davis. Having been burned more than once with choosing the wrong men who either are happy with where they are at or untrustworthy, Liv decided the next man in her life is going to be the one who can give her stability and the family she so desperately wants.

Marc Chase has been friends with Liv for years, but lately he can't seem to keep his mind from wondering what if? When a scorching kiss knocks him off kilter he decides he wants more than a sampling, Liv though has no interest in a repeat performance since she sees Marc as a player and his younger age has her rebuffing his efforts to give their relationship a try. What else can Marc do, he decides he is going to woo her in Chase fashion, but Liv has to let go of her hangups before they can take the next step.

This was a fun one, I did get a bit tired of Liv though she had this wall that she just was not letting go of and I felt sorry for Marc while she was this way because he couldn't get through to her. Otherwise the story was entertaining, Shane's story is still my favorite.

Like someone cracked a whip above his head, all the dark intensity in his gaze shifted to reveal a spark of anger. “Surely you don’t intend to hide behind this falsehood of loyalty to Richard.”
She twisted out of his hold and rose on unsteady legs. Free of his intoxicating nearness, sense returned. She shook her head. “It’s no falsehood. We are to wed. You know this.”
A wry smirk danced on his mouth as he stood. “A wedding that can’t take place if the bride does not return.”
Indignation rode her hard. The heaving of her chest began anew, and she whirled around with a fierce scowl. “You cannot keep me here forever!”
One dark eyebrow rose to mock her. “No? I see no one to stop me.” In three long strides he closed the distance between them. His hand shot out to yank the leather strap from around her waist and wind it tight around her wrists. He held them in one hand. “Did you forget you are my captive? I can keep you as long as I desire. No one will stop me from tying you here, or binding you in the hold.”
She gritted her teeth in a vain effort to still her tongue and tell him all the vile things that ran through her head. But at the sound of his low chuckling, her temper got the better of her. “If your intent is to keep me prisoner for eternity, I promise you I will find a way off this ship if I have to jump overboard. I may not possess the legs to sail, but I am quite capable of swimming.”
With a broad sweep of his arm, he gestured at the window. “Swim if you wish. You will tire. When you do, I will be there to haul you in. And when I do, you will still be bound, and still my captive. And if we wish to enjoy each other’s bodies, we shall.”
Spluttering, she opened her mouth to argue with logic, but sensible words eluded her tongue. All that tumbled loose was the ridiculous protest, “What you speak of is indecent!”
Pain flickered across his face, so insignificant she wouldn’t have noticed had he not moved closer to the light. With a nonchalant shrug, the momentary crease to his brow smoothed and his devilish smile returned to lift the corners of his mouth. “I have no place among decency.”

The Perfect Play (Play by Play, #1)The Perfect Play by Jaci Burton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Football star Mick Riley is finding his life in a bit of a lull, his career is where he wants it to be, but outside of that it is missing something. Yes he has a social life, thanks to his publicist but none of his dates have any substance. At an event for his team, he meets event planner Tara Lincoln who is a no nonsense sensual woman who intrigues him.

Tara has spent all of her adult life working and taking care of her son, Nathan. Tara never ventured into dating, at least not in front of Nathan and after a night of uncomplicated lust with Mick she plans to keep it that way. Mick however wants to get to know Tara more and although she balks a few times she finds her falling hard for the football star, but she struggles with knowing where this relationship is going.

I think this is beautifully honest read. Although Mick and Tara talk a lot about everything under the sun, the one thing they seem to hedge around is what they expect in a relationship which is delightfully refreshing. Mick is a stud, yummy.

Lily Mine by Annabel Joseph

Lily MineLily Mine by Annabel Joseph
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Raised as a gardeners daughter, Lily was thrown out of her family when the families son took liberties she had not wished upon herself but had no choice in the matter. Finding herself on the road to Lilyvale Manor, Lily is hoping to find a position as a gardener with goals in mind to live her life proudly instead of a less desirable path.

Lord Ashbourne is not sure what to think of the woman before him, her uncanny resemblance to the woman who was supposed to be his wife disturbs him, but their is a genuine quality to her that has him asking for her help. In order to protect the sister of his fiancee who had already married a commoner before wedding him, he has to pull of the charade of them nestled at home getting used to the idea of being married until she comes back. With Lily in his home, he could stave off rumors until the matter is settled. However, with each day she pretends to be his wife he finds himself questioning his loyalties and Lily is falling in love with the one man she cannot have.

I thought this was a wonderful story, liked Lily a lot. She is inquisitive and although in the beginning worried about the deception of pretending to be his wife, Lord Ashbourne is always the gentleman with her, never asking for anything more than she can give. I liked that they took their time and Lily still stayed true to who she was.

Wild Card by Moira Rogers

Wild Card (Down & Dirty, #1)Wild Card by Moira Rogers
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Alpha Jack Owens has been biding his time with the woman he wants as his mate, Ginny. Ginny is determined to prove she doesn't need anyone by her side, but as trouble brews she has to swallow her pride and ask for Jack's help. Unable to stop herself, she finds herself inviting Jack to her bed but not wanting to fully commit to the mating urge that is strumming within.

had not realized this was a historical story so was a bit caught off guard with it. I wish it ha been a bit longer because I felt like there were important plot points about the shifter life that had been left out and I was also not quite understanding where Ginny was coming from with her stance on not wanting to rely on anyone.
