Follow Friday

Follow Friday is a meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. Every Friday a blogger is featured and a question is proposed.

This week's featured blog is MotherLode, click on the button to visit them.

This week's question is: In light of 11.11.11 and Veteran’s Day tell us about your favorite solider and how he or she is saving the world. Fictional or real life.

I don't personally know any soldiers, but my grandfather served as a paratrouper.  Although he died before I had a chance to ask him about it, he did write many letters to my grandmother.  When I think of him I can always imagine him wearing his uniform from pictures I have seen. It makes me think of the upcoming movie Act of Valor where real life Navy Seals act, I think we can only imagine the heroic acts each and every person in the service does to protect us.  Will be keeping those heros in thoughts today.

  2. This week's FF really threw me.

We have ANZAC day in Australia instead of Remembrance or Veteran's day, and it's earlier in the year, in April, so our diggers hadn't been on my mind at all. Kind of a shock to the system :D

Sounds like your grandfather would have been a really interesting man!

  3. I think so, he was a fiddler too. We have some records of his. I was a teen when he died but I never took the time to really find out his history.

  10. Hello! New Follower here. Like you, I don't personally know any soldiers but my great grandfather was a pilot who died in the second world war so I try to think of him on Remembrance Day (or Veteran's Day in the US). If you want to pay me a visit I'm over at: http:\\elizabethbaxter.blogspot.com

  11. My grandfather never served but he had sooo many stories as he lived through war. I too, would of loved the opportunity to ask him questions.

  12. Hi! New follower.

Neither of my grandfathers ever served (one had TB, the other was a farmer) but I often hear stories about the war. I'm thankful to all those who gave their lives to ensure our present freedom.

    Check out my FF here.

  13. My grandfather served in the war--and we still have the picture he signed and left for my grandmother of him in his uniform. It always makes me think of my grandparents as a sweethearts.

  18. Some people have friends and/or family who served or who is serving in the military. Other people aren’t really keen on the long-standing war and really have no answer at all.

As for me? I don’t know anyone who is serving or who has served so I decided to go with what I want and chose a fictional soldier as an answer. The thing is, I had four prime candidates! I did eventually end up with one with a lengthy explanation. Care to know who it is? Follow me back to http://www.howardsherman.net and find out!

In celebration of today’s cool date of 11/11/11 I’m offering a special $11 discount off all my interactive fiction books! Sure I’m a book blogger but I’m also an author. All the details of the $11 off on 11/11/11 is at the bottom of my Follow Friday blog post.

Since I’m posting this kind of late just add 'FF’ to the coupon code and it’ll be valid all weekend long!

    Thank God it’s Follow Friday!
