Bad Ice by Sandra Cormier
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
When an assassination attempt is made on hockey star Jason Peterson during a game, Christina MacKay finds herself caught in the crossfire. Jason wants to thank the woman who helped save others at put herself in jeopardy, not realizing that he would find an instant kismet with her and her young daughter. What he hopes will be the beginning of a new relationship with the one he hopes could be the one, quickly becomes marred by an ex-girlfriend who doesn't seem to understand they are through leaving a wake of destruction in her path and a new threat to Christina.
Begins with a bang, sucked in and eager to find out what happens next until about 3/4 in and then it gets a little slow but the story works for the most part. I give it 3.75, I liked all the characters but never quite understood what the motivation for his ex was and Jason's reluctance to see how she really was took awhile. If you like hockey stories worth reading.
