BLURB:

Changing her life...again

After two years in hiding, Angela Taylor knows her independence is worth it. As long as she can escape her past, she has everything under control. Until a flash flood hits the park where she works, and hot Chris Forrester shows up the exact moment she needs a hero.

Chris proves he can save lives-and weaken a girl's knees. But how can she make him understand that she's off-limits, that getting close to her will endanger his life? Her happiness or his safety: it shouldn't even be a choice.

Because when you love someone, you protect them, no matter the cost. At least, that's what Angela keeps telling herself....

Excerpt :

Their eyes locked and Chris’ gaze dropped to her mouth. It fell ajar and her tongue poked out to wet her bottom lip. He snatched his gaze back to the sky. They were in the middle of a disaster situation. They were reaching out to each other for support. Nothing more. Nothing less. So why the hell was his heart beating like a damn jackhammer?

He shielded his eyes against the sun and prayed to God she hadn’t seen his need to kiss her. He focused on the helicopters. “Damn it.”

She shifted beside him and he felt her gaze on him once more. “What is it?”

“They’re not going to be any help to the people stranded in the trees.”

“Of course--”

“Those vultures aren’t going to do a damn bit of good. Where are the rescue teams?”

“What are you talking about? What vultures?”

“Can’t you see?” He shot his arm toward the sky as frustration hummed along his nerve endings. “They’re TV helicopters. A fat lot of bloody help--”

“TV cameras? Oh, my God.”

Chris turned. Her face grew ashen and she swayed back on her heels, her eyes wide with terror. She gripped his forearm. “Help me. Don’t let them see me. You have to do something.”

“What? What are you talking about?”

“Chris, please. Help me.”

Without thinking, he pulled her into his arms and she buried her face into his chest. He brought one hand to the back of her head, the other to the small of her back and pulled her close. She fit the contours of his body like she was meant to be there.

He held her tight. “What is it? What’s wrong?”

She shook her head against his chest. “It’s over. It’s all over.”

The helicopters circled one more time and then flew away, disappearing over the horizon once more. “They’ve gone. Angela? Look at me. What is it?”

She pulled back and tears slipped over her lower lids and down her cheeks. “I’m dead. He’s coming. He’s coming and this time he’ll kill me.”

He gripped her forearms, adrenaline filling his blood on a protective wave. “Who will? What are you talking about?”

She closed her eyes. “My husband.”

Guest Post:

- Tell a little about yourself. Hobbies? Special interests? Family? Pets?
I am a Brit living in South West England, just thirty minutes drive from the famous Georgian city of Bath. I am married with two young daughters and have a constant companion in my beloved black Lab, Max. My life is made up of my family and friends, or my writing, with very little in between – lord, that makes me sound boring, lol!
- What part of a book do you usually find the most difficult to write? The beginning, the middle, or the end? Is it different for each book?
The middle, always!! I am a writer who struggles with the nightmare of ‘the sagging middle’ with every single book. My full-length novels are usually around 85,000 words and every time I hit 35,000…BAM! Here we go again. I tend to write through it now, knowing full well I’ll have a lot of work to do on the next draft…
- What is your daily writing routine? (ex. do you start off early in the morning, prefer the evenings, or do you write all around the clock, whenever you have time?)
I am a stay at home mom so I am really disciplined and treat my writing as a proper job while the kids are at school. I work from 8.30am to 3.30 pm Monday to Friday with an hour’s break to walk the dog and think! Once they’re home, it’s time for housework, shopping and running them around here, there and everywhere.
On the weekends, I will grab the laptop at every free moment too – as long as my family isn’t watching… ;)
- Do you have a favorite genre to write about? Or do you prefer to switch things up sometimes?
As my readers and followers know, I tend to switch things up…until recently. I have always enjoyed writing a Victorian, then a contemporary, then a romantic suspense, then a Victorian…but as I have now signed with both Harlequin and Kensington, that will change to whatever I am contracted to deliver. I have two books to deliver to Harlequin, which will be one mainstream and one romantic suspense as well as two Victorian romances for Kensington. Busy!
- Tell us a little about the characters in the book we're discussing today.
A Man Like Him is the second book in an ongoing series with Harlequin Superromance. Angela Taylor is a brand new character, but Chris Forrester appeared briefly as the heroine’s brother in book one. Angela is a woman on the run from a violent ex-husband and has lived in fairly happy anonymity in the fictional UK seaside town of Templeton Cove for several years. Chris is running too…from his life in general. When disaster strikes, the two are thrown together and have a choice – either fight their demons and find true love…or let their pasts rule their futures.
They are strong characters with serious issues but were a joy to write because of the fire in their bellies. I love characters who know what they want!
- What are you currently working on?
I am currently writing book four of the five books I have signed with Harlequin. This will be a Christmas 2014 book and part of my Templeton Cove series. I am so excited as this is my first ever Christmas set book. The hero and heroine are two new characters, but the book will include the reappearance of some of my favorite characters from books one to three J
 - What are your favorite pursuits besides writing?
I love to read, knit, socialize with friends and family and watch lots of US crime drama. I’m addicted to Castle, Rizzoli & Isles and Scandal. Fabulous!
- Choose a single word that best represents who you are. (ex. adventuresome or inquisitive)

  8. Hi Rachel! Glad to meet another intuitive person. :-) At least that's what my hubby and friends say about me. Congrats on your contract with Harlequin! I read romance--but I love it with just a touch of mystery or suspense or humor. It makes it more believable for us folks who live in real life. Romance is my staycation, my relaxation, my solace. My hubby doesn't understand it...but accepts it (he'd better!). It offers me a positive influence with all the negative stuff that happens around us today. It's the same reason why so many of us here in the "colonies" love to read and hear about Kate & William and the other Royals in your country. :-) It's kinda fairy-tale-ish. But I love it. jdh2690@gmail.com

  10. Rachel is a new-to-me author so it will be interesting to follow her tour and get to know her and her book. Book sounds good, but I'm not too sure about the heroine's tongue poking out to wet her bottom lip. Was it a lot of the tongue or just the tip?
