Book Description:
Emily Scarlet’s husband left her for his secretary and died in a car accident—all on the same day. Now, six months later, Emily has emerged from her chrysalis of painful memories. And to prove she has what it takes to attract a man, she’s determined to experience one perfect night of passion.

Feline shape shifter, Saber Mitchell has a problem with his four boisterous younger brothers. They’re out of control. It’s too late for him, but he hopes to get his brothers mated and settled, and the ball is the place to introduce them to marriageable women.

Unbridled sex is the last thing he plans on, but one glimpse of Emily Scarlet changes his mind. Sex with her is a necessity. They dance. They make love.
One thing is clear—a single night isn’t enough. Saber must have her for his mate, but Emily isn’t so easy to convince…or trust.

Review:
4 stars

Having her whole life turned upside and betrayed by her husband, Emily Scarlet spends the next six months of her life getting fit and trying to find the confidence that died with her husband.  Everything she thought she knew was a lie and for once in her life she is going do to something about it that is just for her.  With a new makeover and attitude Emily arrives at the Middlemarch ball looking for a one night stand.

Feline shifter Saber Mitchell has had it with his brothers.  He knows his time for finding a mate has long passed, but he plans to find ones for his brothers and hopefully keep them out of trouble.  When they eye the beautiful woman in a red dress, all of Saber’s plans go flying out the window.  He wants her as his.  With Emily gun shy about committing to a relationship, Saber has to use all of his powers of seduction to ensure she will never want to leave.

Delightful story, I loved Saber.  He knows Emily is his mate but how do you tell a human you are a shifter and if that wasn’t troublesome enough his brothers do their best to interfere every chance they get.

Interview:

Interview - Musings From An Addicted Reader

Is there an author or book(s) that have inspired your writing?

During my teenage years, I started reading Mills & Boon romances. They’re directly responsible for enticing me into the world of romance readers and writers. I devoured the books, and soon I started wondering if I could write one. It couldn’t be that difficult, right? Of course, it didn’t take me long to realize that writing a romance was hard. After several aborted attempts, I gave up for a few years, then one day I woke up thinking, if I don’t start today, I’ll never start. That was a turning point for me. I took a writing class, joined Romance Writers of New Zealand and got serious.

I have so many favorite authors, and they all inspire me in different ways to try new things and challenge myself to write better books. One particular inspiration, though, is Nora Roberts. Her advice about not being able to fix a blank page always keeps me going.

Were any of your characters based on someone special?

No, I always make up my characters. They’re all a product of my imagination, although I might see someone at the mall with great hair and think that would work well on my latest heroine. Occasionally a snippet of overheard dialogue might make it into a book.

I love Saber’s name, it brings an instant visual to his character.  Was that intended from the beginning or just worked into it?

I started writing Scarlet Woman with several things in mind. I wanted to write about families and a small community and toss in feline shapeshifters. When it came to thinking about names for my characters the heroine’s name was easy. I’d “collected” the name months earlier. Since the hero and his brothers were feline shifters, I thought they should have cat-type names. I made a list of cat names and the Mitchell brothers became Saber, Felix, Leo, Sly (short for Sylvester) and Joe. Joe is a bit of an odd one out, but he’s named after my sister’s cat, Joe who sadly passed away last year after a short illness.

What is your quirk when writing?

I don’t really have any writing quirks, although I do like a routine. My best writing time is during morning to midday, which is when I’m most productive. I listen to music, although once I hit my writing zone I don’t really hear it. Our puppy snoozes nearby while I write, ready to play should I attempt to move. We’re a great team.

Thanks for having me to visit today!
