March: Series Spotight

One of the best series out there is the Pride series by Shelly Laurenston.  They are funny, quirky, bloody, and a perfect sedative to relax to.

The Mane Event (Pride, #1)The Mane Event by Shelly Laurenston
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Two stories combined in this book.

Christmas Pride which has Navy Seal Mace Llewellyn returning back to New York looking for Dez MacDermott, the girl who left him without a word in highschool. Dez, now a cop, is having a hard time telling Mace know as he quickly inserts himself into his life not wanting to let her heart go to the one she has never forgotten.

Shaw's Tail has Ronnie Lee babysitting a horny Brendon Shaw who is recovering form an injury and unable to contain himself. But once he is healthy she is on her way and not looking back, but although Brendon does not remember everything about his recovery he remembers her and he knows will never be the same without her in it.

I thought this was a great kick off for the Pride series.

When Jessica "Jessie Ann" Ward was in high school she was constantly bullied and the ring leaders was Sissy of the Smith clan. The only saving grace was Bobby Ray Smith who did his best to protect her, but when he left and enlisted she knew one day she would see him again and she would make sure he regret the kiss they had almost shared when he broke her heart.

Years later Bobby Ray overseeing the security for his company at an event when a very grown up Jessie Ann walks on stage and his mouth drops. Wanting to reunite with the girl he knew, he is surprised to find that she doesn't remember him, or at least is pretending to. Bobby Ray has never faced a challenge he can't tackle and Jessie Ann has just become the target.

Another great book by Shelly Laurenston. I enjoyed the sarcasm laced conversations between Jessie Ann and Bobby Ray, often hilarious moments.

Lion Shifter Mitch Shaw and Wolf dog Sissy Mae Smith have found themselves in an unusual friendship, both are attracted with each other but because Mitch knows he wont be able to stay after he testifies in a high profile trial he knows nothing can happen between them. When Mitch is wounded he finds himself in the protective care of Sissy and the more time they spend together, they more difficult it becomes to not cross the friendship line.

I gave this a 3.5, I thought it took awhile for the story to move along to the Sissy-Mitch story. Once it did, it was funny and well worth reading. A ton of characters from other Pride stories and a few new ones that hopefully return in future books.

Gwen O'Neill is not sure what draws her to the handsome Grizzly Lachlan "Lock" MacRyie, but she seems to always find herself in his arms. When they "accidentally" bump into each other again, he finally asks her out, after all bears are deep thinkers. Lock has never met anyone quite like Gwen, sexy, unpredictable, and addictive and he can't think of his life without her in it.

Not sure why I kept putting this one to the side, thought it was fantastic. A lot of sub stories that could lead to more sequels. Gwen's family is always interesting. Had a really really funny section that has to do with a hospital in the beginning, hilarious.

Blayne Thorpe is a spirited wolf dog whose thoughts and actions run a hundred miles a minute. She has caught the interest of Bo Novikov, the seven feet, 400 lb shifter and notorious hockey player who has a reputation of being just plain mean. Blayne decides Bo needs a life and to be happy, this is the opening that Bo needs to convince Blayne he wants her to be happy. Danger lurks in the background though as hybrid shifters are being kidnapped and tortured to fight in the pits until their death, and Blayne is the next one on their list.

What a wonderful series, absolutely relished in every page. This was hilarious, captivating, and just pure out fun

*Just reread, I have to say this is probably my favorite of the series. I love Bo....can I please have him for Christmas.

**Reread again because I can't wait for her next books..love this book my ultimate favorite.

The minute Ric Van Holtz sets eyes on former Marine Dee-Ann Smith he is ready to marry her, but the tough as nails Dee-Ann has a nasty reputation as a ruthless killer and he knows he will have to handle her delicately in order to get her comfortable with their inevitable relationship. Coming from a rich family and as a chef he knows the way to her heart is to feed her all sorts of delicacies and continually remind her that being naked is a good thing, if she would only take off her clothes.

Another fantastic sequel in the series, Dee-Ann is a tough woman but Ric sees through all that and patiently sweeps her off her feet. All the clan is in this book especially Bo, who is one of my all time favorites.
