Defying the Odds by Kele Moon

Defying the Odds (Battered Hearts, #1)Defying the Odds by Kele Moon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Melody Dylan has been trying to rebuild her life, finding herself as a waitress in a small town is just another part of her journey. When she sees a man at one of her tables that looks lonely, she buys him a slice of pie, hoping it will cheer him up.

Clay Powers is a famous UFC heavyweight fighter and used to having fans throw themselves at him, always wanting something in return. Clay can honestly say he had never encountered someone so genuine and he finds himself wanting to help Melody any way he can. It doesn't take long for Melody and Clay to find themselves falling for one another, but when Melody figures out her abusive ex has figured out where she is she will do anything to protect Clay, even if it means risking her own happiness to do it.

This was a great read, I liked the UFC angle and kept thinking of Tom Hardy in Warrior while reading this.
