Price of a Kiss by Linda Kage
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Reese Randall has changed her name and begun a new life as a college Freshman hoping for a fresh start and not to make the same mistake trusting a man again. Reese's ex did everything but kill her, but she can't stop from making googly eyes at Mason Lowe, who has to be the most handsome man she has ever seen.
Mason is tainted, the rumors swirl about his job as a gigolo, but Reese sees past the myth and gets to know the man. Mason is not as open to becoming Reese's friend, feeling his reputation will ruin her. When she is hired to babysit his sitter who has cerebral palsy though, it is hard to stay away.
It is difficult to explain the feelings surrounding this story. I would normally steer clear with the plot line of a gigolo/prostitute but started reading this one and was not able to stop reading. I felt or Mason, he is stuck between a rock and a hard place. He is falling hard for Reese but doesn't feel he is worthy of her attention. Reese doesn't care, she has been through her own dramas and judgement and likes Mason, he doesn't shy away with her quirky behavior or inability to filter what she is saying. I have been a big fan of Linda Kage for years and she continues to surprise and amaze me with her work, another excellent read.
