A Rake's Vow by Stephanie Laurens
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Vane Cynster plans to not follow in his cousins footstep and hope fate doesn't intervene with finding him a wife. He is happy to live his bachelor lifestyle and avoid the momma's in the ton looking for husband material for their daughters. An unexpected storm leads him to Bellamy Hall and into the path of Patience Debbington. Vane knows fate has stricken and although he initially tries to avoid it, he realizes nothing will sate him except Patience.
This had more to the story but I found it not nearly as riveting as Devil's Bride. There is a mystery afoot with a spectre and thief in Bellamy Hall, Vane stays on to solve the mystery as well as woo Patience. I can't say that I was overly fond of Patience, she grew on me but she was stiff in the beginning and I didn't seem to move past it. Overall good story, had picked up after first book and I think my expectations were extremely high as I absolutely love that book.

I didn't like this one as well as the first either. Patience got on my nerves too. I couldn't get Scandal's Bride so I skipped to the next one which is Demon and Flick's story. I liked it better than this one.
