HER GUARDIAN ANGEL
By
Khloe Wren

BLURB:

The last thing Snow-Leopard Shifter Dominic expects to find at an accident scene is his mate, the beautiful Adele, but after four years of dreaming of her, there she is, right in front of him.  However, winning the heart of his lonely, grieving mate is no simple task.  Just as their relationship begins to heat up a gravely injured child, Kelly, stumbles into their lives after escaping and fleeing her abuser.  Will Dominic and Adele's bond grow stronger as they nurture and protect Kelly?  Will their relationship be able to survive all that fate plans on throwing their way?

EXCERPT:

Her head felt fuzzy, and she really wanted to lie down and sleep for a week but thoughts and fear of what he would do to her if he found her kept her going. She came upon a lake and stopped to wash her face in the cool water and have a drink. She was going to have to find food soon or she wouldn't be able to keep going. The cramps were getting worse. She really needed to find a town so she decided she would leave the creek and look for a road.
She dragged herself up the embankment and into an open field. Running her gaze over the grassy area, she saw a couple staring at her. Shock stole her focus, causing her to stumble over a fallen tree branch. Panic swept through her as she fell to her hands and knees.
Kelly's breathing raced, causing her ribs to hurt more. She had to get away or they would take her back, but she couldn't get her body to respond. Nothing would move. She heard footsteps rapidly approach and just as she saw feet come into her field of vision, her eyesight began to dim. She managed to groan out, "Please don't take me back to him," before she lost the battle and the darkness took her into a blissful pain free unconsciousness.

 Guest Post

I’ve always read paranormal books, so I’ve read a lot of shifter stories.  I love big cats, always have.  So I looked to big cats for my first shifter series.  I chose snow leopards because I’ve only read one book with that animal as the shifter.  I wanted to steer clear of what I’ve read a lot of, in order to help me keep it original.

I wanted the creation of my shifters to be positive.  I didn’t want it to be based on a curse.  I did some research on where snow leopards live and after a lot of work created the legend behind their creation.  The main characteristic they all have is that they are protectors.  As the legend below states, they were created to protect.

The Legend, as told by Choden (the original shifter) in Her Guardian Angel:
"This story starts long ago with the monks who lived high in the mountains of Tibet. The monks were bonded with the snow leopards. The men would provide shelter and medical aid and in return ,the snow leopards offered the monks protection from those who would harm them. It was a relationship that worked well and benefited both man and beast.

"In the 1750's an elderly monk had started to become concerned for the snow leopards. Their numbers were declining rapidly from hunters who sought out their beautiful and thick pelts. Together with his prodigy, a young boy who he had taken under his wing, they researched ways in which they could help protect the snow leopards.

"In 1759 they finally had everything they needed to conduct the magic that would hopefully save their friends and protectors. They had found a way to join together a man and a beast. Thus enabling the beast to shift to a man and the man to shift to a beast, enabling both to better protect themselves and others they held dear.
"Now the young monk had an extremely close bond with a young male snow leopard, and they both gladly volunteered to be joined. Late at night, under the darkness of a new moon, the elder monk cast the magic upon the younger man and beast. A ball of blue electric energy formed around both the man and the beast before they were raised in the air and merged into one. Upon the energy fading, the beast was revealed and the man had disappeared. The beast raised his head and roared to the sky. As he did, the blue ball of energy returned over him and he flashed into a man.

"Now, that isn't the end of the story. You see the monks didn't realize that Halley's Comet had passed over them just as they were casting the magic. The comet strengthened the magic, and along with the newly created shifter, a pair of mated shifters were conceived on each of the world's seven continents that night. The magic continues to stay with Halley's comet, and each time it passes back over the earth, a new mated pair is conceived on each continent."

AUTHOR INFORMATION:

Khloe Wren started writing her first novel in high school, until it mysteriously disappeared from the family computer (her older brother was the lead suspect but nothing was ever proved). She didn't put pen to paper again after that for a number of years but she did keep reading. Khloe has always loved all things paranormal, sexy vampires, sultry shifters have always been her favourites. So when she picked up writing again, it seemed only natural to write paranormal romance.

Khloe lives in country South Australia with her incredibly patient husband and their two daughters.  When she's not sitting at her laptop writing, she's either spending time with family or friends, or feeding her addictions of reading paranormal romance, eating chocolate and drinking coke.

Khloe loves to hear from her fans, you can find her on any of the following:

Khloe will be awarding a signed postcard and mobile phone charm for one random commenter at each stop and a grand prize of a super prize pack consisting of a deck of playing cards with cover on the back, signed postcard, handbag pendent or keychain, signed bookmark as well as other goodies to one random commenter at the end of the tour.
