Loving Laney by Lorna Jean Roberts

Loving Laney (Shadowpeak Wolves, #1)Loving Laney by Lorna Jean Roberts
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

At the hands of her Alpha, Laney was treated with disdain, hatred, and abuse her whole life. Laney was able to escape before he killed her and has been living as a human ever since. When Alpha Cooper Brady arrives at the restaurant Laney is working at for a bite to eat, he doesn't expect to find a bed mate for the night and despite her initial reluctance it's a night he can't seem to forget. Neither Laney or Cooper realize initially that they are mates but quickly find they can't resist each other. Laney is dealing with the trauma of her past and Cooper is trying to help her heal, but when it seems someone is intent on hurting her, Cooper decides to lay down the law.

I am mixed on this one. I thought the story was written well, I was pulled in right away and eager to see what was going to happen. Cooper is pure alpha but he also is a bit rough and I had trouble with his fierce behavior when he was dealing with Laney, he was loving and understanding but at the same time temperamental which caused Laney to be uncomfortable. It seemed to contradict itself a bit in the story. 3.75 stars
