Seducing Simon by Maya Banks

Seducing SimonSeducing Simon by Maya Banks
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Toni has been in love with Simon since she met him, but as her brother's best friend and one of three other roommates she has been shelved to the "little sister" shelf. Another glaring problem was his girlfriend, but on the eave of his proposal he catches his girlfriend in bed with another man and comes home drunk, drinks some more and when Toni believes her dream has come true and they share an intimacy, she is elated until she calls him his girlfriend's name.

Two months later Toni is pregnant, Simon doesn't remember a thing and now she has to figure out what to do. In flashes it seems that Simon is interested but just as quickly he goes to brotherly mode. She attempts to seduce him but wants to make sure he falls for her rather than just because he is father to the baby, how can she confess her deepest secret when she doesn't understand his reasons for being with her?

I liked this a lot, Toni definitely struggles from one extreme to another. Simon is clueless and afraid to step over the invisible line he has drawn, but once he does he is all in. Great read.

Into The Fire (First Responders, #3)Into The Fire by Donna Alward
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Every emotion he had for her comes rushing back in an instant and has him torn between walking away or trying again with the only woman he ever loved. As a tender moment reveals both still have strong feelings for one another, they both realize they have misjudged one another. Ally though has reservations about committing to a man whose life will always be in danger or does she follow her heart and a chance at happiness.

Making chase by Lauren Dane

Making Chase (Chase Brothers, #4)Making Chase by Lauren Dane
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Matt Chase is used to having an easy life, with his good looks and career as a firefighter the women flock to him like bees to honey, but lately he feels an emptiness he can't explain. With the other three Chase brothers married and having children, Matt is realizing it is becoming more glaring that the women he has been dating are hollow an do not see past his name and his looks. When he meets Tate Murphy after she has been hit by a car, he is stunned when she sends him cookies to thank him, he thinks he has died and gone to heaven, why not go introduce himself to his neighbor who had never given a second glance to before.

Tate knows she is completely opposite of the women that Matt has spent his time with, she is short and fluffy and from the wrong side of the tracks. Tate has worked hard to raise her siblings and provide for them a safe and loving lifestyle for them. When Matt finds ways to insert himself in her life, Tate's initial reaction is to try and push him away but Matt is in it for the long haul and despite Tate's insecurities he plans to help breakdown the barriers she has surrounded herself with.

This was my second favorite in the series, I was totally absorbed by Tate she is a fighter and an inspiration. The only ding would be the abrupt ending, I wanted more...

July: Firefighters

Five Alarm Neighbor (To Serve and Protect, #1)Five Alarm Neighbor by Anna Leigh Keaton
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Gracie Terrence has had a not so secret crush on her firefighter neighbor Steve Sheldon since they became neighbors. Steve caught Gracie's voyeuristic moment watching him with his then fiancee having sex, that moment has seared itself in Steve's mind. Now that he is single, he wants to explore the chemistry between, but he quickly discovers he wants more now to convince Gracie he is worth the chance.

I had mixed emotions about this one, loved the beginning but I wanted more between both characters. I felt like there was something major missing from Gracie's past. Otherwise entertaining fun.

July: Firefighters

July's theme is Firefighters, seemed fitting.  Highlighting the heroic men who save our homes and rescue in a time of need.  I don't think there is another word in the dictionary that conjures up such an automatic image for me, big, brawny, and full of swagger.

Trial by Fire (Firefighters of Station Five, #1)Trial by Fire by Jo Davis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When Lieutenant Howard "Six-Pack" Paxton unit is called to put out a fire, he is not prepared for the sensual woman who ends up fainting inn his arms. Howard has always celebrated his bachelorhood and although gun shy, can't seem to get Kat McKenna out of his thoughts. Deciding the quickest remedy is to take her on a date and see what transpires, he unknownly puts her in the path of a sadistic killer who is trying to bring him down.

Thoroughly enjoyed this read, liked Howard and how he was conflicted by his feelings for Kat. A page turner.
