BLURB:
After being burned pretty badly by two different women in his
past, Brian Vellinger has sworn off romance. Commitment-shy for the past
fifteen years, he is stunned by his sudden attraction to a woman he's not seen
since the last day of their senior year.
Natalie
Collier thinks she's successfully put Brian Vellinger out of her mind. After
harboring a secret crush all through high school and into college, she is both
alarmed and thrilled when Brian makes his intentions known at their 25th class
reunion. But will she succeed in softening his casual, 'sex only' policy, or
will she end up just another notch on his belt?

Review:
After two relationships went sour, Brian Vellinger vowed he would never put himself in the position of falling for another woman again. He likes a healthy dose of sex, but not with any commitments attached to it. When he sees Natalie Collier after twenty-five years at their high school reunion he can' believe he never gave the sensual beauty a chance all those years ago. Natalie seems to have come into her own, striking a deal with Brian for one weekend of pure adult fun. Although Natalie is wishing for something more, will Brian break his stance on women for her?
I am a sucker for reunion stories and this one did not disappoint. Loved the reintroduction of fellow classmates Brian and Natalie, in high school Brian was oblivious of how Natalie felt and although she exudes self confidence she is not kidding herself that the crush she had is still there. I thought Brian was a bit jaded, but rightfully so and I think when he starts spending time with Natalie he sees something that makes him a bit nervous, he doesn't want to have feelings but can't seem to stop himself. Entertaining read.
Excerpt:
“Lisa was telling me about it. She said the restaurant is open, but not the
rest? Something about it being part
charity, part club, part teenage hangout?
And Austin Harmon owns it?”
Brian drained his cup.
“Yes. Remember how Austin used to
get into so much trouble, and spent time in juvenile hall? He won the lottery
last year and decided to provide a safe place for kids to hang out so he bought
some acreage and began building last fall.
The kids can take golf lessons, tennis lessons, swim in the pool, shoot
hoops, play soccer, and get homework help –basically, anything they could want
or need. He’s not going to turn anyone
away because of their income level.”
“That’s a fantastic idea,” Natalie exclaimed. “How about transportation from school?”
“He’s hired one of the bus drivers. A lot of the programs are still in the
experimental phase.” Brian stood up and
fished his cell phone from the pocket of his shorts. “I’ll give him a call and see if he’s open
tonight.”
“It’s Sunday and late,” she objected. “I don’t want to bother him.”
“Nat…he’s a friend.
He won’t mind.” Brian had already
dialed and was listening to the music in his ear. “Austin?
How are you?”

Thank you so much for having me today! I'm so happy you enjoyed reading Class Reunion:)
ReplyDeleteHigh school is fraught with emotion. As I approach going back to my 30 (never have been back), I'm nervous and feeling that anxiety that school brought back. I wasn't bullied but I wasn't accepted either. Sure going to be an interesting night with hubby as I know of at least two ex-boyfriends who will be there!
ReplyDelete*head slap* Just saw this 'reply' button! One of my friends who had taken me to one of the dances (not prom), showed up at the 25th, and his wife's brother had been in our class. When L and I revealed how we knew each other, S asked me if I was 'one of his women'. We laughed and said, 'No, no! Just one dance!'
DeleteI attended a 'mini' reunion last fall, thinking my ex-b/f would be there, but he'd suffered a mild stroke and couldn't attend. He IS hoping to be at the next one in '14, so we'll see how it goes. My hubby refused to attend after the disastrous 10th. I think it was all the talk about the fact I now had cleavage....
@Melissa: I was the weird one who couldn't be categorized. I was in band; bff's with a basketball player; my date to the prom was a Hood; and of my girlfriends was an unwed teen mother. I also worked in the library and my senior year, was in the Home Ec program, where I worked three hours a day at Head Start, then returned to school for the rest of my classes. I didn't really 'fit in' anywhere. But let me tell you, I had a horrible time at my 10th, but loved my 20th and 25th. Although I'm wondering now if anyone will speak to me at the next one, lol! "OMG Kenzie....I can't believe you put that in your next book!"
ReplyDeleteMona Risk keeps getting kicked off, but here's what she has to say:
ReplyDelete"Kenzie, I love your picture. Finally meeting you in person. Wishing you a lot of success with Class Reunion. These reunions are so much fun with a lotof unexpected happening, just like your story."
I've always felt so out of place at reunions so I tend not to go although I do keep in touch with one high school and college friend. Good luck with the new release!
ReplyDeleteLOL...You're not alone, ELF. I guess I'm the odd one who enjoys seeing old friends? My hubby refuses to attend his, and we live in his hometown.
DeleteThanks for stopping by:)
Great excerpt! Your a new author for me. I will definitely check this one out!

Thank you Amber:) This book is the 2nd one in an unplanned trilogy (wrote the 1st one, then another book, then Class Reunion), and Austin, in the above excerpt, demanded I 'show off' his country club/teen hangout. We've named the series The Anderson Chronicles, since Anderson, IN seemed to be the only common denominator.
DeleteCongratulations to Melissa K, who wins the copy of All She Ever Wanted, and ELF, who wins the $10 Freya's Bower GC!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for hosting me this week!
