Cedar Bluff's Most Eligible Bachelor by Lara Iding

Cedar Bluff's Most Eligible BachelorCedar Bluff's Most Eligible Bachelor by Laura Iding
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Doctor Simon Carter is seriously rethinking his policy of no dating fellow workers when it comes to nurse Hailey Rogers, but it just takes a memory of his previous relationship to keep him from asking her out. When Hailey breaks her leg and he is the cause, he becomes her right hand man, the only problem she doesn't want his help and has no qualms about sharing her feelings about it. As their new founded friendship grows they are finding it difficult to keep the friend line in tow, but Simon has to make a choice whether he can let his past go or not.

Overall a cute story, had a few flaws. I got a little tired of Simon wallowing over something he couldn't control which causes strife towards Haley. No real sizzle though.

Bastien by Tianna Xander

Bastien (Hidden Breeds, #1)Bastien by Tianna Xander
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Carly thought she was going to die the last time she saw her ex-husband. With a fresh start and trying to keep under the radar without bringing too much notice to herself, she takes a job as a housekeeper for Bastien Sinclair. When she agreed she had no clue he would have a mini zoo on his property or that he would tempt her into ever wanting to be with a man again.

Bastien realizes that Carly is his mate, but he is well aware her timid reaction is caused from something in her past. Wanting to go slow to earn her trust, he proceeds with caution but Bastien knows in time he is going to have to reveal what he truly is, a werewolf. When she is kidnapped by a government lab experimenting on what they think are fellow shifters, Carly becomes their latest test subject. Will Bastien still want her when he finds out what they have done to her?

Overall the story was an intriguing read. The only thing that really rang out for me was how much bad luck could one woman have? A lot apparently. The story definitely sets you up for more in the series and I would not hesitate to read the next one.

One for the Money by Janet Evanovich
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Out of work, out of money, and about to lose her car, Stephanie Plum turns to her cousin Vinnie for a job as a recovery agent for those that have skipped out on their bail. Her target could not be sweeter, smooth talker and hormone magnet ex-vice cop Joe Morelli. Joe has been accused of murder and is eluding capture, but Stephanie plans to outwit him, she still has not forgotten about the two other times he dazzled her when she was younger, still holding a grudge? Well maybe.

In order to get him though she is taken under the wings of mysterious agent Ranger, who is Mr. Higgins to her Eliza Doolittle. Making a few mistakes along the way, Stephanie in all her efforts has also caught the eye of prizefighter Benito Ramirez who is vile to say the least and plans to do her harm if he catches her. In order to catch Joe and keep Benito at a distance, Stephanie has to be at the top of her game, since she has never done this before, the bar is not too high but in order to stay alive she will have to use everything she has learned so far.

A hilarious series. Stephanie is quirky and although she is broke, she has her priorities of what she needs to be happy. The chemistry between her and Joe is fantastic, and I have a soft spot for Ranger, hope he is in more of the series.
